In an effort to ensure that citizens of the Capitol city were fully-informed of the City's activities, Mayor Bob Coble distributed his 2009 State of the City address to thousands electronically.  The 30-minute address outlined the accomplishments of city government during 2008 together with the goals and challenges facing the Midlands for 2009.

While hundreds of people turned out at the Columbia Convention Center for the February 5 speech, concurrent distribution via email allowed other unable to attend to learn about both financial and organizational goals of the city and a series of initiatives designed to increase quality of life and add jobs.

The City intends to continue the practice of cost-effective, broad communication with city residents over the coming year. Read the email.
