RackesGroup Signs Contract with BellSouth for Diversity Application

Columbia, SC - BellSouth has chosen The Rackes Group, an internet strategy and marketing firm with offices in Columbia, SC, to manage the online version of their calendar honoring successful African Americans with South Carolina roots.

BellSouth introduced the project to draw attention to the contributions of African Americans 16 years ago and has evolved its focus from print to online over the past 7 years.

Martha Scott Smith, Regional Director, Corporate and External Affairs for BellSouth, selected TheRackesGroup (TRG) because of Barbara Rackes’ past experience with the initiative and understanding of internet marketing.

"We want the South Carolina African American History Calendar (www.scafricanamerican.com) to be the 'go to' place for school children and all citizens seeking information on the rich history of African Americans in South Carolina," said Smith. "TRG understands both our mission for the calendar and our commitment to diversity with the BellSouth organization."

TheRackesGroup will manage all site operations and each month electronically delivers biographical information about a calendar honoree to thousands of schools, communities, and citizens in South Carolina and across the world. "We have had visitors from a dozen African countries, Japan, China, Russia, and most of the European countries in addition to thousands of US visitors each month," said Barbara Rackes, managing member of TheRackesGroup. "It's exciting to see the increasing interest in the contributions made by black South Carolinians."
